VTA is looking for ways to reduce spending on express bus routes since the cost per rider on Express routes is about five times as high as all-day routes.
VTA is developing a new model for express bus service that funds routes in partnership with large employers. This way, reductions to express bus service will be less severe than if VTA has to cover the entire cost.
VTA is currently working to establish funding partnerships for these Express bus routes and plans to announce additional changes to Express Bus service in early/mid 2020.
